Hot Ticket! CUESA's 11th Annual Sunday Supper ~ October 20
Who's looking forward to a whole-beast feast? CBS 5's Foodie Chap Liam Mayclem, who will be our emcee at CUESA's 11th annual Sunday Supper! Please join us on Sunday, October 20, for an elegant celebration of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market community and California's rich agricultural bounty. Thirty of San Francisco's best chefs team up with winemakers, bartenders, and sustainable farmers in the historic Ferry Building for one memorable evening supporting CUESA's educational programs. Pepper Celebration ~ Tomorrow
Herbs Some like it hot and some like it sweet. CUESA celebrates peppers in all their variety tomorrow at the Pepper Celebration. Sample pepper pinchos (tapas-like bites), pick up recipes, and put your taste buds to the test by guessing the capsaicin levels of different peppers (cheat sheet below). Meet pepper farmer David Winsberg of Happy Quail Farms and enjoy pepper-themed cooking demos with Kory Stewart of Americano Restaurant & Bar at Hotel Vitale and pastry chef Luis Villavelazquez. All activities take place in the CUESA Classroom, south of the clocktower, across from the Veggie Valet.
Meet Our New Market Ambassador, Cathy Curtis ~ Tomorrow
CathyWe are very excited to announce our newest customer service initiative: the CUESA Market Ambassador program. Based out of the Info Kiosk in the back plaza, the Market Ambassador is like a roving concierge, available to answer your questions about where sellers are located, what's in the market, parking, programs, culinary tips, and more! Kicking off the program tomorrow will be Cathy Curtis, Vice President of CUESA's Board of Directors. She'll be wearing an easy-to-spot green sash, so stop by and say hello. Meet Cathy.
Seasonal Shopper Rewards Card Drawing ~ Tomorrow
SpringFall is almost here, which means it's time for another quarterly Seasonal Shopper Rewards Card drawing! Fill up your card tomorrow to enter to win. Among this season's offerings, you could win four tickets to our Fall Cocktails of the Farmers Market night, a gift certificate to Magnolia Gastropub, or other fabulous prizes. Trail Mix: A Tour of Fruit and Nut Orchards ~ Sunday, October 6
TourAutumn is the perfect time to walk through orchards and learn all about the fruit and nuts that are harvested this season. On our October farm tour, we'll visit two Yolo County farms, Capay Canyon Ranch and K & J Orchards, where you'll see grapes being sun-dried into raisins; get a first-hand view of stone fruit, pomegranate, and persimmon production; hear about almond processing; and eat lunch in a walnut orchard. These tours fill up fast, so get your tickets today.
Pickling Party with Happy Girl Kitchen ~ Friday, October 11
PicklesYou can pickle that! We're celebrating the fall harvest with a pickling party in the CUESA Kitchen. Join fermentation master Todd Champagne of Happy Girl Kitchen Co. for a hands-on workshop co-hosted by CUESA and Urban Kitchen SF. You'll learn two methods for pickling vegetables—canned vinegar pickles and live culture fermentation—and take home jars of each. And in honor of our Pepper Celebration, expect a spicy twist!
