Our neighbor, Kate Mitchell, took this photo of the west span of the Bay Bridge from the 101 rooftop.

The Bay Lights project is an iconic light sculpture designed by internationally renowned artist Leo Villareal.

This stunning fine arts experience will live for two years on the San Francisco Bay Bridge West Span, starting with the Grand Lighting on March 5, 2013. (You'll see the bridge occasionally lit before this date—as Kate did—during its practice lightings.)

The Bay Lights artist Leo Villareal is a pioneer in the use of LED lights and computer-driven imagery. Known for his complex, rhythmic artwork composed exclusively of points of light, his art is part of the permanent collections of major museums worldwide.
