ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW
View, Eat & Be Merry

Norman Patrick Doyle, resident
The Commons
SF Playhouse has done it again! In their tiny theater on Sutter Street they offer a high-energy comedy, "Slasher," which never falters in portraying a group of people caught up in the making of a "horror" movie.
ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW:
There’s not a bad seat in the “house”
If you stand in front of the Ferry Building, you can’t miss the very large white tent and its smaller sister tent on the grounds of Ferry Park. Gates to the sparkling story of Peter Pan opened April 27, so now you can see what Londoners have enjoyed—the adventures of
Peter Pan in Kensington told via theater in the round.

ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW:
Equivocation
Norman Patrick Doyle, resident
The Commons
The Marin Theatre Company in Mill Valley is less than 30 minutes drive from the Barbary Coast. It's worth every minute to go and see their current production of "Equivocation," a tour de force by playwright Bill Cain with a brilliantly clever direction by Jasson Minadakis.

Klea Blackhurst at the Eureka!
Everything The Traffic Will Allow is Blackhurst's loving tribute to the songs made famous by the quintessential stage personality Ethel Merman. Not an impersonator and not an impressionist, Blackhurst offers a paean to the great Broadway legend that serves as a potent and happy reminder of Merman's sheer, undeniable importance to both the history of twentieth century entertainment and the iconic composers like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerry Herman, who wrote songs just for her.
Attention Barbary Coasters
On Tuesday, April 13, 6:30 pm, in room 400 of City Hall, an Entertainment Commission
hearing will consider whether to grant a Place of Entertainment permit to the owners (Alfonso Castro and Roarke O’Neill, dba Swag City Impala) of Impala nightclub at 501 Broadway (at Kearney Street).
If you wish to weigh in on permitting Impala, you are welcome to speak during the Public Comment session after hearing the applicants’ proposal and recommendations by city officials.
As background, on July 10, 2009
BAY AREA BLOG reported:
Two men were shot in the leg inside the North Beach nightclub Impala at 1:15 a.m. Friday morning. The City's Italian village has long had a history of problems after the sun goes down, but SF Weekly highlighted Impala in a story about the failures of the San Francisco Entertainment Commission to properly regulate violent nightclubs just last week. The commission is solely responsible for issuing and suspending nightclubs' permits in the City.
Depressed by District Elections?
Norman Patrick Doyle, resident
The Commons
Fed up with an Entertainment Commission stacked with nightclub owners? Frustrated by a Board of Supervisors from a Marx Brothers movie? Then take yourself off to the SF Playhouse, at 533 Sutter, for an evening of unremitting laughter and enjoyment.

Urge Mayor Newsom
to Fund Transit Services
The SFMTA Board is considering service cuts that would affect every bus and light rail line, creating longer wait times, crowded vehicles, and less incentive to take public transit. We need to let Mayor Newsom and the SFMTA Board know that we want MUNI services funded, and we'd prefer extending the hours of parking meters as opposed to MUNI service cuts. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition (SFBC) has an online form that makes writing the Mayor and SFMTA Board simple. Email to save MUNI today!

Something wonderful is coming to the Barbary Coast!
They could have chosen Chicago. Or New York. Or Dallas. But they chose San Francisco for their US launch. Once The City got the nod, the next step was selecting a suitable site that provided excellent public transportation, was friendly to foot traffic and offered sufficient space for a 10,000 square-foot tent. Sue Bierman Park was the preferred venue to present the first production outside Great Britain of Threesixty Theatre’s
Peter Pan in the Park. We’d caught the golden ring!
